I think our little one must be cutting some two year molars early. There is lots of drool, fingers in mouth and more poo than usual. And with more poo comes diaper rash.
- On a normal day we just use diaper rash cream.
- When it gets a little worse we do a layer of Aquaphor and then a layer of diaper rash cream. My sister-in-law has an in home daycare and swears by this.
- And when it becomes out of control we go for the magic mixture. When Nicholas was very small our pediatrician suggested we use a mixture of Maalox (or any liquid antacid) and diaper rash cream (we used Desitin). Mix equal parts and keep it in a small Tupperware container. It lasts forever. It works so well because the antacid cuts the acid from the urine and poo. It is not a thick consistency so it is a little messy, but boy it does the trick. If you want it a little thicker just use a little more diaper rash cream than the antacid.
