Happy Valentine’s Day!
So last night I stayed up until midnight making 20 bags of Puppy Chow for Nicholas’ class and for the teachers. Call me crazy! I am typically the parent that looks around the room and sighs at all the parents that go above and beyond. And this year I decided to be that parent. It was fun and I’m glad I did it, but no guarantee I will be on my A game in the future.
One mistake I made was that I bought bags that were too large. These 2.5 year olds are getting enough puppy chow for about 4 or 5 kids. I made a double batch and was barely able to fill 20 bags. In the future I will buy the small party favor bags.
Puppy Chow minus the peanut butter.
Rice Chex – 1 box
1.5 bags of semisweet chocolate chips (follow the directions on the bag for melting)
Powdered Sugar
1 Bag Plain M&Ms
Plastic Party Favor Bags
Melt the chocolate, gently stir in chex mix and then lay out flat on a cookie sheet and toss with powdered sugar. Put in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to solidify chocolate. Divide chex across your bags first and then divide the m&ms across the bags. Twist tie them shut, tie a cute ribbon around them, punch a hole in your Valentine card and tie it onto the bags.
For the teachers I included a little extra something. They are scented hearts, aka aromies. They are super cute and inexpensive and come in all shapes. You can get these at the Tin Shed, see https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Tin-Shed/216148603085
You can do this for any holiday. Change the look with the color ribbon you select and the color of candy you include. Super fun and easy.
